The Prayer Chain
The prayer chain consists of the Rector and members of the congregation who are committed to intercessory prayer on a regular basis. Members of the prayer chain pray regularly for those who are ill or in any other kind of need. Prayers can be said privately or included in the Sunday or midweek service. If you would like to be included in the prayers, please email Margaret Anderson: margaret@andersonweb.info
Choir
We would love to welcome new members to our choir which leads the worship on Sunday mornings, led by David Spotiswoode, the church organist. We sing a range of music in four part harmony, from hymns to more modern songs. Whether you have sung in a choir before or would like to experience it for the first time, we would be delighted to put you in touch with David. Choir practice is held at 9.45am and 12.00 for half an hour before and after the Sunday morning service. choir@stniniansglasgow.org.uk
The Mothers’ Union
The Mothers’ Union is a worldwide, inclusive organisation that welcomes those who are neither mothers nor female! It works in 83 countries to end poverty, inequality and injustice. Its members work at grassroots level around the world, bringing hope and support to millions of people. At St Ninian’s the MU consists of a small group who meet on a monthly basis to pray for the work of the MU and to support MU initiatives such as the Away From It All holiday scheme for those families who are suffering hardship. If you would like to know more please get in touch with the Rector.
The Servers
The servers prepare the altar for Holy Communion before the service and tidy up afterwards. They assist the priest during communion itself and are part of the procession in and out of church. If you would like to know more about serving in church, please get in touch with the Rector: veritybrwn@gmail.com
Children in Church
There is a children’s area at the back of church with toys and puzzles. A member of the church is usually on hand to provide quiet activities for children to do during the service, which tie in with that week’s theme.
Social Events
The church holds a variety of social events during the year, such as fayres, ceilidhs, and even murder mystery plays! They are usually advertised on the Facebook page.
Church Garden
We have a committed group of gardeners who work hard on making sure the tubs around the church give colour to a busy street corner. Recently we created a garden and sitting area in the church courtyard with help from a grant made by the Incorporation of Gardeners from Glasgow.
RATS (Renfrew and Aranthrue Theatre Society)
Rats are a local amateur theatre group that rehearse in the church hall. They produce a Christmas pantomime and a springtime play every year.
